Duke Nukem series
GOG's installers are only designed for XP and newer. What you need to do is install the game on your Vista system and then copy the installed files to your 98 system. Once there run the DOS executables directly (do not use DOSBox). Depending on your configuration you may need to restart into DOS mode in order to play.
EDIT: for reference, DN3D installs to C:Program FilesGOG.comDuke Nukem 3D by default.
You are mistaken; in many cases GOG does not need to work much magic beyond removing copy protection (if any) so games may well still work on older versions of Windows even if the installers do not. For DOS games no work is required at all because the games are running in DOSBox rather than natively; DOSBox is able to run original, unmodified DOS software just fine.

Thank You I will try to copy the game over.

I am tring to load the game on my older computer. It's without internet. I saved the program to a disc and tried to load it. I get an run time error that keeps coming up till I onplug the computer. I wanted all my games on the older computer. I tried to load it on my Vista, it runs OK there. Any suggestions. I removed the read only on the program.

GOG installers will only work on Windows XP or later. GOG doesn't support any earlier versions of windows (95/98/Me).
You might be able to get it to work by installing to the Vista machine, then copying the game files to the Win98 machine, but I wouldn't count on it.

You can't run GOG- wrapped games on Windows 98. They are made the way they are in order to run SPECIFICALLY on Windows XP/Vista and soon 7.

Yeah my bad. I need sleep. You can work around the installer especially with older games like Duke Nukem.

not to knock on gog.com but the one sold on the 3dr store uses an setup compatible with win 9x. also you don't need dosbozx on win 98 just copy the dos files and rerun the setup.exe and add a shortcut to duke 3d.exe useing the included icon. gog.com packes the fies so you don't need to use an older pc.

You can just install Duke3D on a Windows XP or later computer, then copy the files to your Windows 98 PC. Like everyone else is saying too, GOGWrap doesn`t work. Run DUKE3D.EXE instead.

There's actually a solution to this:
1. Download and install 7-Zip 32-bit.
2. Download any GoG games' MacOSX installer (don't use the GoG Download Client).
3. Right-click on the downloaded DMG-file and choose '7-Zip > Extract to <filename>' in the context menu.
4. Open the unzipped folder and pick the biggest file that you find inside (should be '<name>.hfs').
5. Unzip this file, again using '7-Zip > Extract to <filename>' in the context menu.
6. Dig around in the newly created folder until you find your games' source files.
I believe that the full path to the game files once everything's extracted might be something like:
<filename>4<game name><game name>.appContentsResources<game name>.boxerC <game name>.harddisk
Once you've located the files, copy them to your HDD and you should hopefully be able to run the game natively as a DOS application.
Hope that helps.

While DOSBox is nice and all, having the ability to play these games on computers that they were intended for would be awesome. At least Duke 3D has source ports.

* When installing Windows 98 or 98SE in DOSBox: |
Use core=dynamic for a faster install. |
For the first phase of the install, make sure |
you set: |
dynamic core cache block size=32 |
Let it install then reboot. Stop the emulation |
before it starts booting again, and change it to: |
dynamic core cache block size=1 |
For the rest of the install, leave it at that |
setting. |
The setup phase may show some invalid page fault |
dialog boxes (for some reason). If you ack them, |
Windows will make it through the install and |
boot up properly. |
Do not change the dynamic core cache block size |
back to 32. Windows 98 will become unstable and |
DOSBox will likely segfault at some point, usually |
when opening the Control Panel. |
